Pumpkin Carving 2012

I think this is the closest we have EVER been to Halloween without carving our pumpkin, but this month has been super busy and it totally snuck up on me.  I truly believed that I had an extra week before Halloween!  I finally bought a pumpkin at Target a few days ago and Parker got to choose the stencil.  He picked Angry Birds, of course!  Both of my boys are crazy about Angry Birds and have been for a while! 2011 pumpkin, 2010 pumpkin.
The boys were so excited about carving the pumpkin and Braden was actually up for helping pull the pumpkin guts out this year!  Parker, however, kept saying, "Icky!" and "I can't watch!"  We pulled Emersyn close to the action and she enjoyed playing with the top of the pumpkin and trying to eat the uncooked pumpkin seeds!

Braden's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

I was so excited that I got to go with Braden on his field trip this year! We visited Southern Belle Farm in McDonough which is our favorite farm.  We didn't have a chance to visit as a family this year so I was glad that Braden at least got to visit with his class.  Braden was most excited about riding the bus and eating the ice cream that they give you after lunch!  He had a great time and I felt so blessed to be able to go with him!

Burlap Frames

I LOVE Pinterest!  I have found so many awesome ideas to spruce up our house!  The latest idea that I found was this super cute burlap frame trio that I am using to display my instagram pics.  I am always looking for ways to use up a little burlap after the shower that we gave for my sister in law and cousin! This project was super easy and most of the items that I needed I already had in hand.

For this project you will need:
  • frames (I purchased three unfinished frames from Hobby Lobby when they were on sale for 50% off)
  • stain or paint (I had wood stain on hand, so that is what I used)
  • clothespins
  • burlap
  • some sort of backing to attach your burlap to- I used
  • staple gun
  • hot glue gun
  • picture hangers
  • pictures

Stain your unfinished frames and clothespins

I bought 3 picture mats because I needed something to staple my burlap onto.

Staple your burlap onto the mat.

Use your staple gun to staple your burlap covered mat onto the frame.

Cut off the excess burlap.

Hot glue (or nail) the picture hanger onto the back of the frame.
Hot glue the clothespin onto the burlap.

I love the way it turned out and love that I can change my pictures anytime I want!  My instagram pictures were printed through Snapstagram and they turned out great!

Vacation 2012

Last week we went on vacation to Madeira Beach, FL.  The kids and I went in June with my parents, but this time Brad was able to go and we were so excited!  The kids had a great time playing on the beach!  Even Emersyn was a trooper and loved the ocean!  Braden and Brad spent lots of time on the sandbar hunting for cool shells and sand dollars and Parker spent lots of time chasing seagulls!
